"Keep it Simple, Sweetie" with Craft - Winter Wonderland Ideas

“Keep it Simple, Sweeite” with Craft – Winter wonderland ideas

Winter has really hit us and it is so nice to appreciate this wonderful time of year.
When was the last time you rolled around in a bunch of leaves. The different colours and shapes are amazing and so different from other times of the year.
We have been doing all sorts of activities that are inspired by this season and thought we should share.
1: Just enjoy the different colours. They are amazing.

2: Make a mobile with seeds and pine cones.

3: Make a finger painting of an autumn tree.

4: Use cut fruit to make painted patterns.

5: Paint a leaf and then press it onto paper. It leaves a beautiful pattern.

6: Go for a bush walk.

7: Don't forget to jump in a pile of leaves.

8: Rug up and have a fantastic time outside.  xx

"Keep it Simple, Sweetie" at School Time - Questions to ask when your kids get home from school.

“Keep it Simple, Sweetie” at School Time – Questions to ask when your kids get home from school.

I always find it really hard to get my kids to talk after school. They never tell me how their days was unless I constantly probe them.

Here are a few ideas I have found work well with my kids.
1.   Always keep things positive and don’t pester them if they really don’t want to answer.
2.  Ask open ended questions so your kids can not answer with a yes or no.

Instead of Asking
Try asking
How was school?
What was the best thing about school?
Was your teacher nice?
What was the most interesting thing your teacher talked about today?
Did you have everything you needed at school?
Was there anything you wish you had at school that you didn’t have today?
Did you play with anyone at recess?
What were most kids doing at recess?
What was the best game at recess?

By asking questions that don’t focus on your child , it takes the pressure off them and encourages them to talk. Once the talking starts they will keep it going. It is a little hard at first and can seemed forced but it works well. It is also great for your childs development and memory to be able to recall their day.

Good luck and have fun. xx
